Chiropractic Care

What is chiropractic care? Chiropractic care is a form of healthcare that focuses on the musculoskeletal and neuromusculoskeletal systems. It is used both in prevention of and relief from pain and uses joint manipulation or chiropractic adjustments as a primary form of treatment. Many chiropractors, including Dr. Sarah Kucera at Lék, use other modalities in their treatment plans, such a soft tissue therapies and therapeutic exercises.

What types of conditions can a chiropractor treat? Chiropractors are specialists in spinal health, still they treat so much more than just back pain. A chiropractor can be of great benefit when dealing with conditions like joint pain, joint dysfunction, sciatica, disc herniations, ankle sprain, tennis elbow, rotator cuff sprain/strains, and headaches, just to name a few. You can also see your chiropractor in absence of pain to maintain health and catch issues before they occur. When what you’re dealing with is outside of her scope of practice, Dr. Sarah Kucera will refer you to specialists in other fields.

How often should I see a chiropractor? The frequency of your visits depends on the condition being treated, the phase of care that you are in (acute, corrective, wellness/maintenance), and the plan that you and your chiropractor have determined is best for you. Those with acute pain may require one to two visits a week for a couple of weeks, while someone using chiropractic care for wellness may opt for visits ranging from once a month to four to five times a year. It may surprise you to learn that, even though we love our patients at Lék, our goal is to see you as little as necessary. This is because it means we’ve done our job in helping you identify patterns in your body and equip you with all you need to be active in your own care.

What can I expect in an appointment with Dr. Sarah Kucera? In your first appointment, Sarah will take a detailed health history, assess your posture, check your active/passive/resisted ranges of motion, and perform any additional and pertinent exams needed to get a full picture of your current health concerns. Treatment, in your first visit and thereafter, may include manual or instrument assisted adjustments, focal therapeutic massage, fascial manipulation, and education on ways you can care for yourself between visits. Sarah loves working with those who are invested in their own health and are active in their own care—be it a natural curiosity of movement, a willingness to be observant of their habits, or an openness to simple modifications to their routine. And perhaps most important, you can expect to feel comfortable in an appointment with Sarah. She allows space for questions and knows the value of lending a kind and empathetic ear.

Can I use my insurance? We are not in network with any insurance providers and don’t directly submit claims to insurance. However, you can use your HSA card for payment, and we can provide a superbill (a statement used for insurance reimbursement) upon request.
